Great opportunity to use your funnel!

Guest post by Sarah. She and I made these as holiday gifts last year.

Here is a reasonably priced, easy-to-make, super awesome gift for just about any occasion (holidays, wedding and baby showers, housewarming, Mother’s Day, birthdays, you name it).

Items Needed:

  • Small glass jars
  • *Sugar (organic evaporated cane juice works quite well)
  • *Epsom Salt
  • Food coloring
  • Choose from the following: vanilla beans, cinnamon sticks, dried orange/lemon/grapefruit rinds, lavender/lilac/rose petals, peppermint leaves – really, the possibilities are endless.
  • Perfume (consider a unisex scent for maximum gift giving potential)

*Note: the amount depends on how many jars you’re making and how big they are.

Scented Sugar:

Layer sugar and scent repeatedly in a jar. Put cap on and allow to rest for a few days so that scent is infused throughout. Decorate with ribbon and/or stickers/labels. Present as gift.

Scented Bath Salts:

Put Epsom salt in separate bowls for each color you want to make. Add a few drops of food coloring to each one along with a splash of perfume. Stir. Layer different colors in a jar. Put cap on and allow to rest for a few days so that scent is infused throughout. Decorate with ribbon and/or stickers/labels. Present as gift.

Consider pairing two jars in a gift basket – just make sure to label them. Wouldn’t want someone putting Epsom salt in their tea!
