The Best Stuff on Earth

Makes the list every year. Obviously.

Makes the list every year. Obviously.

Every year I write in my journal a list of my favorite things. I’ve been doing this for a decade or so, so I know what I thought was cool when I was 19. It makes a useful reference point. In 2003, for example, “caramel,” “know-how,” “geniuses” and “sauces” all made the list. All are still awesome in 2009. Of course, “Las Vegas” and “country living” were also documented, which means I’m capable of change. In 2005, “learning about science,” “corn on the cob,” “children’s books” and “songwriting” were tops. In 2008, “podcasts,” “confidence,” “puzzles” and “Hawaii” made the cut. This year I’m adding “getting new glasses,” “farmers’ markets,” “RSS aggregators,” and “doing the right thing.”

What’s on your list?
