In the Office Triple Feature

23 Jun

We’ve had a slew of celebrations in the office recently. Here’s a sampling:

#1: Cheverly Day

My colleague Julia is from Cheverly, Maryland, and proud of it. She often regales us with stories of the annual celebration that brought together the entire town for a day of food, music, moonbounces, and the “Cicada Crunch” footrace. We knew she was sad to be missing it this year, so we brought the party to her.

We decorated her desk.

We corrected the Cheverly page on Wikipedia, to reflect Julia's status as a notable former resident.

We stopped short of having a race, but we did make sure "Cicada Crunch" was represented somehow.

#2: Fast Food Birthday

To honor Steve’s birthday, we celebrated with an assortment of items from his favorite food establishments. We started off with frosties and fries from Wendy’s.

We made sure he felt like a king.

And we had to have a McDonald's Fry Cake!

#3: This birthday is bananas.

Unfortunately there are no pictures from Joanna’s birthday, but needless to say, we took the Joanna Banana theme to the limit. We played Bananagrams, gave her a banana-themed card, ate banana cupcakes, and made sure she had her favorite taro-flavored bubble tea from Crazy Bananas.

Super Bonus!: For my birthday, my co-workers surprised me with a personalized game based on Apples to Apples.

Complete with custom playing cards.

And an outer space-themed card.

We do it big, don’t you think?

I SOOOOOO want to work in your office. I’d fit right in. I love party planning and I am a very skilled worker too! Ooooh, for that matter, I could just be a plant in the corner… Pretty Please 🙂

Anyway, looks like tons of fun! Great job!

      Hi Kris,

I think you got the order right – party planning is the top priority, then doing the actual work. 🙂 (On some days, it feels that way!)

      Thanks for reading!

I still feel so warm and fuzzy looking at that Cicada Crunch. BEST SURPRISE EVER.
