A Berry Nice Theme Party

Last weekend my family had a berry-themed party/contest to celebrate summer in the Pacific Northwest. We had several courses.

Appetizers included a fresh berry salsa with chips, and these strawberry, prosciutto, and haloumi appetizers:

Then we had a salad course, featuring Kelle’s contribution of greens, duck, goat cheese, and blackberry vinaigrette:

Third place!

We don’t have good pictures of the next two courses. We had pork loin with a blackberry balsamic reduction, and a side of savory strawberry risotto. Then we had a salmon course, featuring an amazing blackberry sauce.

Honestly, most of the main dishes didn’t stand a chance when compared to the desserts. Here’s Michael’s Lemon Berry tart. Unfortunately for him, the message in the blueberries turned out to be less than prescient. I suppose “Second Place” wouldn’t have fit anyway.

Ultimately, Ann claimed victory with her amazing gluten-free (!) trifle. Winner winner!
